Mekarem Eljamal is the Managing Editor of the Middle East Studies Pedagogy Initiative (MESPI). She is also Program Assistant at the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies at the University of Michigan. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a dual bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Middle Eastern and North African Studies, she spent time in Haifa, Israel working for a research organization that focuses on Palestinian citizens of Israel. Her research interests center on Palestinian citizens of Israel, and, more specifically, how they have navigated issues of identity, belonging, and non-belonging through placemaking.
