Samer Jaradat

He works as a freelance percussionist and producer with local and international bands and musicians.

Samer Jaradat works as a freelance percussionist and producer with local and international bands and musicians. From a very young age, Samer was eager to find and understand the similarities and differences between people and objects. With age and experience, his observations turned into concepts and beliefs, which developed into theories and mind sets he deploys in various musical projects. Jaradat’s interest in percussion from different parts of the world drove him to participate and study with some of the finest music teachers world-wide in advanced workshops, developing his own style and direction in playing and thinking about percussions. His observations and openness to new cultures and sound theories helped him develop multiple perspectives explored through a unique approach. Jaradat studied for a year with Youssef Zayed in The Edward Said National Conservatory of Music (ESNCM) and then participated in percussion workshops in countries like Turkey, India, Germany and Brazil. Currently he teaches percussions at ESNCM, he also conducts workshops in several schools and universities in Europe and the world.Over the past few years, Jaradat worked with international and local bands and musicians like Cheb Fudel, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Sanaa Moussa, Bassel Zayed, Reem Talhami, Jamil Sayeh, Walid Abdul-Salam, Turab, Yalalan Group, First Ramallah Group, El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe, ESNCM, Palestine Youth Orchestra, Trondheim Soloist, Iman El-Bahr Darwish, and Khayyam Al-Lami. He also participated in recording dozens ofmusic albums for Palestinian, Jordanian, Turkish and Emirati musicians. In addition to music, Jaradat studied business administration at Birzeit University, Palestine.

As a Producer, Jaradat follows two directions; he is immensely interested in mixing and combining various and different musical genres from different regions in the world. Therefore, for the past three years, he has been carrying out a theoretical and practical research on world music and projects that are interested in mixing music from different cultures. He has also started many projects hosting international musicians like “Music Without Borders” and “Arabi Gharbi”. Moreover, Jaradat worked on producing local and regional music albums in cooperation with different bands and Palestinian/regional institutions. His work so far has been driven by many goals and beliefs, like the necessity of documenting the period Palestinian artists live in chronologically and historically through music, to create opportunities for younger generations to listen and build on previous musical experiences. Jaradat also aims to promote artistic projects internationally and to produce high quality music in addition to creating a respectful and cooperative environment. The results of such projects in reality can be easily traced by anyone who follows them. - See more at: http://www.statushour.com/music-production-cycle-in-palestine-from-akka-to-gaza.html#sthash.gsLpw5Vr.dpuf
